I think the birthday boy was a tad disappointed with us when we did not celebrate his birthday. We merely wish him on whatsapp and Instagram and that was it. No meeting up for dinner or birthday cake hahahah so he was quite upset with us HAHAHAHAHA.
Date : 1st August 2015
Venue : Capri by Fraser @ Changi City Point.
Time : 1.30PM @ Hotel Lobby
Yat and I met Shanis and Saffy (Shanis's friend) at the hotel lobby to check in. We wanted to check in early but when Shanis called the hotel in the morning to ask, she was told to check in at 2pm as per the hotel policy. That was okay for us. So we reached about 1.30 and Shanis tried to check in but was told the room was not ready yet. We understood...because they said 2pm and we were indeed early.
So at 2pm we tried our luck again and this time, THE ROOM WAS STILL NOT READY!
I do not know about you guys but I will get really worked up about this. It is not as if we made the reservation on the day itself or the day before... Shanis booked and pay for the room wayyyyy before so the Hotel SHOULD know there are prior reservations and that the room SHOULD be ready by 2PM. No?
Because that was what I was taught during my time in the hotel and tourism industry. At the very least, if the room is not ready by the hotel policy time, the least the front desk staff could have done was to bring the guest to a much more comfortable place (e.g lounge, cafe) and serve them a welcome drink? I don't know man. I have been in the service industry since I was 12 (serving food and picking up plates) so I kind of expect good service where good money was paid. Not sorry.
So anyway, after Saffy and I hassled the front desk Manager, we managed to check in at 3PM, get a welcome fruit platter with sparking water, guaranteed late check out at 2PM and free breakfast for two (that we did not even bother waking up for and we ended up having McDonalds for breakfast).
But really, why wouldn't a room be ready by the stipulated time? Was it because they over-commit and allowed late check out at 2PM for the guest the day before because they pretty much upset the guest too? I think so.
So we went up the room and while I wish I actually did take a photo of the room and how big it was, I did not. We got busy decorating the room with all the funny things Shanis brought for us to DIY with. Then Syahmir and Afiq came with the foods and balloons and somehow we realized that we do not have proper solid food for our guests that Shanis & I went for a quick errand at Cold Storage at Changi City Point - buying breads, eggs, tuna, chicken... because our room includes a small kitchenette. While we were busy shopping and preparing the food, the boys went out to fetch Nini before fetching the birthday boy at his house.
Back story : I told the group that I am having a open house on 1st August and that they should come at after 6pm. Dan believed it so it was a perfect bait because he came down wearing his Baju Kurung lol and got kidnapped by the guys and suffered a long, squeezy trip from Woodlands to Changi City Point.
The party consist of only the few of us and thank god the food was enough (in fact, it was a little bit more than enough maybe?).
We had pavlovas, mini pizzas, three different type of sandwiches, chicken drumlets, chocolate mousse, chips with nacho dip and the birthday cake!
Moving forward, it was time for the birthday boy to get into the room. We placed him in front of the cake and took out the blindfold...
...and he was so surprised that he cried! HAHAHAHAHAHA.
"Why did you do this to me? *cries*"
So yup, Shanis was not that bad as to leave Dan wearing Baju Kurung throughout his party so she brought him some clothes. (If it was me, it would have been a baju kurung party for him alone HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH)
See? Shanis even prepared a coat for him! Hahahaha.
It was cake cutting time and then we had some doa before a thank you speech by the birthday boy.
Okay what right the photobooth? HAHAHA.
At the end of the day, it was left with just the six of us and we cooked maggi noodles and played monopoly deal while watching Bujang Lapok. We stayed up through the night till about 4 in the morning.
The next day, instead of adhering to our plans (which was zoo and then gmax), we ended up eating at Tampines and playing bowling before heading back home hahaha.
Anyway, thank you Shanis for the invitation and making it into a successful birthday surprise. Dan, I hope you are surprised and not as disappointed with us as the day before HAHAHAHAHA.
Happy 24th birthday, Danial! We (and by we I mean Yat and I hahaha) wish you happiness in everything you do. Good luck on your new job and may you get to go where you want to go. May Allah always ease your journey and may you always be blessed with love from your loved ones.
