Hidayat's 24th Birthday Celebration (Video)

Remember the post I wrote about Hidayat's 24th Birthday Celebration?

Here's a video I did on it. :)

See you guys on Monday for my next post!
A new video on Mas and Azri's #AlmostHalal party will be uploaded on next Thursday - just in time for their wedding that Saturday. #maszritiestheknot

p.s Guess who will be involved in the 8th Asean Para Games 2015 that will be held in Singapore from 3-9 December 2015? Such a shame that it is not getting as much hype as SEA Games did just a couple of months ago, but I hope this experience will be another stepping stone to where I want to be in the next few years. Here's to many more opportunities in the future!

More on that on Monday, 7th December 2015 (perhaps?).

3D2N Superstar Gemini Cruise to Malacca

This is a special post on a Friday, not posted on my regular days, because I can only upload one video per week on Vimeo because I refuse to upgrade to Plus as at the moment. Watch my videos and give me a reason why I should upgrade to Vimeo and post more okay? :x

003 - Star Cruise Gemini from Aniysh on Vimeo.

So remember that Cruise I took in September? It was my first time on a huge ass ship and actually sailing along with it so it was kind of a big deal for both Yat and I. We have always thought it seems fancy and interesting, so I decided to book a place for two for a 3D2N trip to Malacca via Super Star Gemini.

It was not all that, but it was definitely a great experience. So many things could have been better or could be improved but to say that we will not be taking anymore cruise (especially superstar) is an understatement, though the Royal Caribbean cruise got our attention for their around the world cruise for $50,000 per pax on board their Quantum of The Seas. Sounds like a good deal to spend about 100+ days away from home with food & accommodation & travel expense covered (mostly). We will probably do that when we are 40. Or latest 45. In sha Allah.

Anyway, click to watch the video to see a 8 minutes video to see what is pretty much in Super Star Gemini so you can decide if it is worth spending the bulk of your money on it or.... heh.

See you guys on Monday at noon for my next post on my reviews on Tag Team Inc and basically a 101 guide on how to choose the have the best laser tag party. :)

Hidayat's 24th Birthday Celebration

Last year, for Yat's birthday, who also happen to have his birthday on the same date as his best friend, Syahmir, me and Nini threw a small birthday celebration at HomeTeamNS Sembawang Chalet for them. You can check out the gist of it in Dan's video here :

Separately, I booked a room at Marina Bay Sands Hotel for Yat a few days after his birthday as he had never been there before and he mentioned to me that he would like to try the infinity pool one day. So I granted him his wish. (There was no birthday post on my blog for Yat last year because I went MIA on my blog and only started writing again this year heh.)

Except that he had to solve a crossword puzzle to actually get there where I was waiting for him.

He did quite a good job on last year's crossword puzzle that I actually thought this would be a good tradition for the rest of his birthdays for years to come.

This year, as no one else from Triple Threat was free on the 12/11 for their actual birthday, I thought we could just spend the day just the both of us and celebrate with them the day after.

I actually started planning for Yat's birthday 6 months before, but nearer to the date, the initial plan was scraped and I had a new plan instead 2 months before his birthday. There were some changes in my plan and what made it worse was that I was scheduled to work on both 12 and 13 November and that I was not able to get someone else to cover me. I was doing part-time in a gym and the working hours was only 11-2pm, but it did push some of my plans back a little and I had to make a lot of changes to accomodate my working schedule to the birthday plan.

11 November 2015 - Pre-Birthday

So anyway, the day before Yat's birthday, we went out to the gym in the evening and bought a take out for dinner to eat at Changi Beach. We left the beach about 11pm to make way to my place but an accident happened to someone right in front of our eyes, so we stopped to help for awhile. Yat technically started his birthday at an accident scene and it sort of dampened the atmosphere for a bit.

Got back to my place about 20 minutes after midnight and I told him to wait under my block as I wanted to pass him a birthday card.

Brought down his birthday card, along with a slice of his favourite mango strawberry cake. It was supposed to be at midnight but yeah hahaha.

He got the same cake last year, except that this year it was only a slice because both of us need to watch our weight HAHAHAHAHA.

Also, he got another crossword puzzle to solve.

He needed to solve the crossword by that night because it contains all the instructions he need to follow the next day. Things on what to wear, what to bring, where to go and how to go were all in that puzzle so he had to answer them correctly. This year's puzzle was a little harder than last year's and he needed way more help. HAHAHA.

He managed to solve them eventually after a lot of clues from me and he went home.

12 November 2015 - The Birthday

The instructions stated that he had to be at Vivocity, at a certain location by 2.30pm. And because we are talking about Hidayat, he turned up late. At this point, he still had no idea where we are going or what we are doing. He knew it will involve something wet because I told him to bring his board short and he thought we were going to WaveHouse - erm, no?

Upon reaching, he need to complete a word search puzzle this time round.

Busy completing the word search and guessing where we are going.

After completing the word search, his guess was the S.E.A Aquarium. I told him that he was right, and to guess what we are doing there to which he came up empty.

I told him that we were going to Dive with The Sharks, and his face lit up.

You can read about our Dive with The Sharks experience HERE

After the dive, we took the Sentosa Bus to Beach Station and took the Sentosa Express train back to Vivocity where I parked the bike. The plan was for me to ride the bike while Yat become the pillion, but I asked him if he was more comfortable riding or being a pillion and he chose to ride while I gave him the directions.

He was laughing out loud when we reached because he kind of guessed it when I asked him about Studio M the other day. I actually booked the Studio Loft at Studio M but received a complimentary upgrade to Premier Loft upon checking in. Hehe. Exceptional service from the front desk team, definitely.

Reached the room and he plopped on the bed until it was time to get ready for dinner at Royz et Vouz Specialty Coffee.

The food was pretty good. Yat had the Smoked Duck while I had the Prawn & Crayfish Pasta. We had the buffalo wings for appetisers and we walked out of there stuffed and happy. The price was reasonable too for the portion and ambience so no one is complaining.

After dinner, we went back to the hotel and there was another cake waiting for Yat in the room. This time, it was his number 1 favourite cake - strawberry shortcake - and it was really good because Yat finished both two slices on his own. *glares*

After stuffing cake into his face, we watched TV and fell asleep because I have work in the morning the next day.

13 November 2015 - Post-Birthday

Yat sent me to work and headed home to unpack and went for his Friday prayers before fetching me from work and heading straight to Carlton Hotel for a couple spa appointment. I booked a 1 hour massage for two pax. TIP: check out what kind of membership you or your partner have, then check out what you guys get to redeem during your birthday month. You will be surprised at the kind of offers available for birthday babies on your birthday month!

We got a complimentary upgrade to a couple room. Also, this is by far THE BEST spa experience the both of us ever had. From the start till the end, it was such a good service by the LifeSpa team that I am even thinking of booking a massage for my mum there one day.

After the massage, we were supposed find a birthday present for Syahmir before we head to East Coast Park. However, some unforeseen circumstances happened, and we need to make a detour back to my place to pick something up before heading to East Coast.

This year, for the combined celebration between the two boys, Nini and I thought of doing something different as this time, Nini and Dan has started working full-time and it is harder to plan a day out for all six of us. So when we knew Dan was in town on Friday, 13th November but have to leave Singapore very early the next day, we chose to do a day event instead of an overnight party.

Initially, Nini and I was thinking of making a McDonald's Birthday Party but the only timing available for our choice of venue was at 3pm and it did not suit our itinerary. We needed something preferably in the evening... so we chose to do a laser quest party. We wanted to book the one at HomeTeamNS at Bukit Batok, but they were fully booked, so our last choice was Tag Team Inc at East Coast Park instead of LaserOps at Dhoby Ghaut because we were a little tight on budget hahahahaha.

When we reached East Coast, Yat was blindfolded before I led him to the spot where his friends will be waiting for him. But I needed to liaise with Nini on this as she will be dragging Syahmir to the same spot too at the same time.

I think we can all agree when I say that Nini and I need to work on our surprises. Hahaha. We dragged the boys and asked them to open their blindfold and we went like "surprise!" lol. HAHAHAHAHAH. Technically it was not even a surprise. The boys KNEW they will be meeting each other and that there WILL be a surprise. Pfft.

All the more reason why Nini and I shouldn't make anymore surprises for the both of them for next year, or the year after..........

Anyway, we reached about 5.30. Nini and I booked the party slot from 5-7pm, and our game was at 5-6pm, while we can use the party tables from 5-7pm. We were left with only 30 minutes to complete our 4 missions.

We entered the game room about 5.40pm and had a short briefing on how to use the gun and we played 4 missions until we sweat like crazy and was out of the room by 6.05pm. So one mission is roughly about 5 minutes I guess?

Note : I have so many things I want to rant about our experience at Tag Team Inc, but I shall keep that for another post because this is supposed to be a happy post for memories sake so I shall zip it hahaha.

After our time was up in the game room, we headed back to our table to eat the food that Nini and I brought from home. Took a whole lot of photos but because of the low light and because Syahmir was moving wayyyyy too much, most of the pictures turned out blur. But here are some of the good ones!

After we were done with eating and taking nonsensical photos, it was already 7.30pm or so. Initial plan was to go get the boys try the GMAX at Clarke Quay but because Syahmir was shy of heights, we decided to head over to Playnation for 2 hours of board and card games till 10pm. I know it sounded really boring, but I am telling you that this was one of the times that I actually laughed until my stomach hurts.

I could even feel my abs growing. HAHAHAH.

It was such a good day out with my man, and I am so glad that he chose to spend it with me, his best friend and a few of his friends that mattered to him. To Shanis and Dan, thank you for helping us. To my sister, thank you for being awesome and running errands for me. To my mum, thank you for cooking up a feast for the 10 of us. To Farhan, Saddam, Mike, Hassan- thank you guys for coming and making up the numbers hahahaha. It was a great night!

Happy 24th Birthday, Hidayat and Syahmir!
I hope you guys enjoyed yourself during the celebration and that you guys liked what Nini and I planned for you two. HAHAHA. I wish that you guys will grow up soon. Heh. Also, all the best in life and in everything that you guys choose to do. May you achieve all your goals in life, be contented with what life has to offer and be a better partner for me and Nini. Amin.

p.s We are not doing anymore surprises for you guys next year. It's just gonna be dinner and cake with Triple Threat because you guys will be expecting a surprise, and that is not going to be a surprise anymore. :)

AYdate Ideas : Dive With The Sharks.

*WARNING* : Word & Photo Vomit Post

If you guys have been checking out my social media posts on Instagram and on Twitter, you guys would have noticed where Yat & I went to last week to celebrate Yat's 24th Birthday.

If you guys do not know it yet, we actually went to experience "Dive with The Sharks" over at Underwater World, Sentosa.

I have been receiving quite a number of queries about this, so I thought I would do a separate post for this from Yat's 24th Birthday Celebration post that will be coming up on Thursday.

I actually first knew about this when I was scrolling through Instagram and saw a friend, Azie, posted a picture and video of her going for this. I did not even knew this existed in Singapore - hahaha actually there are a lot of things I did not know that existed in Singapore but I will probably list it down on my blog one day and go check it out with Yat soon. So when I saw that post on her Instagram, I thought it would make a perfect birthday gift for Yat. Yat is an adventurous guy and a thrill-seeker, so I knew this would turn out amazing.

So after exchanging a few questions with Azie about her experience and how scary it was, I decided to go for it.

Honestly, I am not a good swimmer. I knew if I have to, I can swim, but I can never float. I have a fear of deep water, which means that even if I do swim, I cannot swim in an environment that I could not touch the floor. I can swim laps in a pool of 1.5m deep, but ask me to even enter a 3m deep pool and I would freak out. So you can understand my hesitation when I was deciding whether to go with Yat for this experience, or to just book it for him while I watch him from the other side of the glass. But I thought, you know, why not right? What was the worse thing that could happen? If I have any problem, I could just go up to the surface and let Yat continue - but at least I would have tried. Hahaha. Besides, life is short. It really is and I would want to do a lot of thing before I couldn't.

So I booked it for two!

To do the booking, just head to this website : UNDERWATER WORLD

It is a really simple booking form that you have to fill up and you can pay using your debit/credit cards. Just click on the "MAKE A BOOKING" tab on the left and choose a date that you would like to go on and choose your session.

It cost $130 per person and there are only two time slots a day with a maximum of 4 people per slot. The time slots are at 1.30pm and the other one at 3.30pm. For each slot, if you would like to have 4 people per slot, they have to be all certified divers. If not, it is 2 non-certified divers per slot or 1 certified and 1 non-certified diver for safety reasons.

However, you can try making special arrangement with Underwater World by contacting them at least 2 weeks in advanced and maybe they will be able to accommodate your requests.

In any case that you have accompanying guests who would like to see you dive but not dive with you, they have 20% discount for their admission ticket to Underwater World and it cost $24(adult)/$16.50(child) [U.P $29.90(adult)/ $20.60(child)].

You will have to fill up the "Participants Details" form on the next page and the "Contact Person's Details" after that and you will be directed to the payment page. After which, you will just have to wait for the day of your booking and enjoy your dive! The whole booking process took about 5-7 minutes and it is really effecient!

Things to take note : Participants have to be 12 and above, in good general health and physical fitness to participate in this. Females should not be pregnant. The pre-requisites mentions that you have to be able to swim and be confident under water. I honestly do not think you need to know how to swim, you just have to be confident under water and not freak out because most of the time you will be walking on the bed and not actually swimming. Also, if you do not think you deal well with sudden change of air/water pressure, I would really suggest you to think this through.

I do not usually have problems taking an aeroplane, which means I do not usually have bad experience with sudden change in pressure during a flight. The one who usually have them was Yat. But during the dive, I actually had a hard time adjusting the sudden change of pressure and sort of hyperventilated when I first came down because I was having a sharp pain my ear and I have to tell myself to breathe through my mouth and it got pretty hectic dealing with all that at one go that I had to go up to the surface and calm myself down before I go down again and managed to slowly adjust to the pressure and the ringing in my ears somehow stopped and was gone after awhile.

It is perfectly normal to have that sharp pain in your ears, just try your best to go down slowly. I rushed myself going down at first hahaha and anyway, the instructor will tell you of a technique of how to actually get rid of that ringing before you go down underwater.

After booking, they will send you a confirmation email almost immediately. If you do not receive it within 24 hours, maybe you can give them a call and check with them regarding your booking.

My suggestion is to print this email confirmation out and show it to the admission ticket counter for your tickets.

Getting There

Underwater World is in Sentosa - that much I know. What I thought I knew was that it is somewhere near S.E.A Aquarium. I honestly thought that Underwater World was another name for S.E.A Aquarium, so guess who was the confident person who actually thought it was okay to walk from Vivocity. We walked and took the travelator into Sentosa and walked to S.E.A Aquarium only to find out from the admission ticket counter that Underwater World was at Fort Siloso - ALL THE WAY INTO BEACH STATION AND FURTHER INTO SHANG-RI LA HOTEL.

THAT WAS VERY FAR TO WALK.

And also, we were running late. The dive session was at 3.30pm, which means we need to report 30 minutes before the dive and it was already 3.05 when we reached S.E.A Aquarium. lol.

So we took a cab from the the basement and it cost us about $12 because of the $5.00 entry fee to Sentosa, $3.00 pick up fee from Resort World Sentosa. The base fee was only $4? Zzz.

So... if you guys are going, take the Sentosa Express Train from Vivocity, alight at Beach Station and take the Sentosa Bus 1 or the Sentosa Tram towards Siloso Beach and alight at Siloso Point. It is a cheaper alternative haha. The cheapest is to walk in from Vivo and take the Sentosa Express from inside Sentosa at the Waterfront Station.

Once you have reached Siloso Point, Underwater World is about 2 minutes walk away. Present your confirmation slip and they will issue you the tickets.

Upon entering, the staff asked us to wait for our diver and that we will be able to check out the exhibits until 3.25pm as our dive is at 3.30pm. (So technically, we were on time and not late and the 30 minutes was just a buffer time lol.)

Our designated diver was Abdul and he led us to the backroom where it looks like a small kelong. It is where the surface of the aquariums are located. I have never imagined what it looks like behind an aquarium, so now I knowwww.

We were given a wetsuit according to our size. It is all provided by them so you just have to bring your bikini to wear inside, a small towel for you to shower after and your shower gel & shampoo.

After changing to our wet suits, our diver did a short briefing. He explained about the masks, the oxygen tank, the weights and how we should walk underwater, what we should do if water enters our mask, how to get rid of the ringing in our ears, the signs he will be using to us and so on. The oxygen tank is super heavy hahaha I really did not expect that at all.

After the briefing, we went into the water and he told us to try breathing underwater using our equipments and once we are ready, he led us into the aquarium.

We did not really get to take a picture with the fishes and all, because they were all swimming past by us and with the low light, the pictures all turned out pretty blur. But I am sure I can have something in one of our videos. The dive was only 30 minutes but I was pretty sure our diver gave us more than that even though it felt like the time passed by pretty fast when we are underwater.

The Underwater World team even got Yat a birthday card to take a picture with underwater - laminated and all. Kudos to such an amazing service from your team. And our diver was even offered to take a photo for us using our GoPro. They do not provide any photo services, so please bring your own underwater cameras! It will be such a waste if you do not get to keep a photo of this amazing experience.

Took a lot of pictures and videos for memory sake, and I will probably be done editing the video (along with all the highlights from Yat's 24th) by the end of this week, and will *most* probably be uploading them next week. So keep a look out for that video. :)

Yat was such a happy boy when we got out and I was such a happy girlfriend for seeing that grinning face of his. If you guys have no idea where to bring your adventurous and thrill-seeker partner for their birthday or anniversary, you can give this a try!

Till my next post on Yat's 24th Birthday Celebration! :)
