TripleThreat : Coney Island

With all the hype surrounding Coney Island this past few weeks, Triple Threat decided to check it out on a Sunday that everyone happens to be available. With Dan flying now, it's harder to set a date that is convenient for everyone so when we knew Dan will be in town on 1st November, what better way to start the month than with a picnic right?

Except that it was drizzling and we had no other choice but to have our picnic in Shanis's car. Which is honestly a cool idea by the way because the day was actually scorching hot and between an air conditioned car and a wet, humid environment, the car wins hands down.

We were supposed to meet at 1.30pm and because we are all melayu, everyone finally came at about 2.30pm. Yat asked me why I don't have the darah melayu in me because he wanted to pick me up at 1.50 but I told him we are all meeting at 1.30 so he picked me up at 1.25 instead so we won't be too late but surprise, surprise, we were too damn early for this bunch. *glares at mer and nini*

However, I am kind of glad that we did not take our picnic into Coney Island because I cannot see a single spot that is convenient for us to set up our picnic mat. Maybe if you are thinking of sitting by the beach, but as mentioned by almost every article about Coney Island, that is where the sandflies are at and the last guest you want in on your picnic party, are sandflies.

So I would recommend you have your picnic at Punggol Jetty or somewhere around it instead of inside Coney Island.

After stuffing our face with food and waiting for the sky to clear up, we headed to the bicycle shop located near Punggol Jetty and rented a mountain bike at $8/hr each. You can choose between a hipster city bike or a mountain bike and let me just make it clear that the trail inside coney island will make it hard for you if you are on the cute city bike with that basket. It will look cute as hell on your instagram but you will probably have trouble manouvering the bike.

There is also another bicycle shop located at The Punggol Settlement, about 200m down from the bike shop we went to. But there are too many people there. We didn't manage to check out the price for that shop so maybe you can go check it out and see if it is cheaper though I seriously doubt so.

So then we rode to Coney Island, which is just about 500m or so from The Punggol Settlement.

Please note that Coney Island is open to public from 7am to 7pm daily!

Enjoy the pictures! All shots are taken by iPhone 6 and 6s.

Till the next post!
