#GuavaSweat : Swing Yoga @ MotionWerkz

The other day, I did Swing Yoga at MotionWerkz via my GuavaPass.

1 hour before the class, I got a reminder from GuavaPass regarding my booking! While this is definitely value-added, it would be better if they can remind me 24hours before my class in case I forget to pack for it sobs.

MotionWerkz is located over at 2 Kallang Avenue, CT HUB 1.
I rode there, so it was kind of easy for me. But if you take the train, best to alight at Lavender instead of Kallang and then walk about 5-10 minutes.

I was so impressed with the studio. It looks new, and definitely attractive to my eyes. Seeing the swing makes me excited for the class already.

MotionWerks have two changing cubicle, with one toilet that will allow you to shower if you need to after class. Lockers are also provided for free, but if you need to rent a towel, it comes with a small fee.

The studio has a great view! Imagine being here during sunset or sunrise! *.*

I met Gillian, a hot mother of two with a fantastic body. She was my instructor during the class and I was the only one there so I got her all to myself. She shared a lot about her struggle with weight pre-yoga and pre-exercise and I was so amazed by her story that I was actually a lot more motivated to work out and get her kind of body when I reach 40 with two kids in tow.

We started with a little warm up, with her focusing more on my alignments as she stressed that it is very important to have the right alignments. It seems that all these time, we have been warming up and cooling down without really focusing on our alignments, and this can actually cause injuries in the long run.

After which comes the torture.

I have always hated doing upper body, mainly shoulder and arms. I hate it so much, much more than doing core or doing cardio, because I cannot do it. I can never carry myself up while doing pull ups, and there was once when I was 15, I went for a check up and I was told that my shoulder muscles were not fully developed as compared to my other muscles. Which was not really surprising to me because I always have problem with pull ups ever since I went through puberty at 11.

NAPFA Test when I was in P4 was a piece of cake.
Then I started puberty when I was in P5 and gained A LOT of weight and pull up became the death of me. I hate it, even up till now.

So when Gillian suggested we will be doing a lot of core and arms work today, I cringed.

And she was not kidding when she said we will be doing core and arms. It has been 2 days since the class and my whole upper body is aching. It was a great 1 hour session that ends with me doing this pose.

It was so fun that I already book another session with her next week, this time with Dhiy! Let's see what other positions I can do next hehe.

If you are interested to do a trial class with her, give her a call at 6444 6686 or you can visit her Instagram Page @MotionWerkz or visit her website for more detail.

If you are ever worried about being too heavy for the swing, fret not. That was the first question I asked her and the maximum weight it can hold is 1 ton. That is about 900kg. Plus, recently, they had the ONE FC MMA Fighters in their studio doing swing yoga as well. If the swing can handle those giants, the swing can handle you. Lol.

Till my next post!
